Child Portrait / Black & White

Profiles

Telling a story through a portrait
and finding the soul within black & white

When shooting profiles, I want to bring out those feelings that are around at the moment. Sometimes there is anger, sometimes there is laughter, sometimes it is a combination of both. Getting the light right is key, as it is with the light that I can shape that emotion into what I feel.

When I decide to shot profiles, I have a goal in mind. I have a picture, more or less, painted in the back of my head. When I add the kid’s feelings to the mixture it not only changes what I had in mind, but also enhances it astronomically. I let them be part of the process, I let them bring ideas, pose as they want if that is what they ask for.
